Below this section is the first part of a series of creating a plan based on you and you alone. This is for YOU, what works for someone else doesn't necessarily mean it will work for the next person. You NEED to go through the 7 Steps to Calculating Your Caloric Requirement, in order to TRULY understand your body's energy requirements. Don't be nervous about the below calculations if you're not so great at math. You can visit our custom calculator to automatically get the numbers from the equations below.
Step #1 - Calculate Your Current Basal metabolic rate(CBMR)
CBMR calculation for men = 66 + ( 6.2 × current weight in pounds ) + ( 12.7 × height in inches ) – ( 6.76 × age in years )
CBMR calculation for women=655.1 + ( 4.35 × current weight in pounds ) + ( 4.7 × height in inches ) - ( 4.7 × age in years )
Multiply CBMR output number by the appropriate activity factor below to obtain your final CBMR
Sedentary (little or no exercise): CBMR x 1.2
Lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week): CBMR x 1.375
Moderately active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week): CBMR x 1.55
Very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week): CBMR x 1.725
Extra active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job or 2x training): CBMR x 1.9
Step#2 - Calculate your Ideal bodyweight(IBW) or Just use your own goal bodyweight that you imagine you'd like to reach. (If you use the Step 2 Calculation it will give your recommended weight based on the "avereage ideal weight" for men or women of your height)
IBW calculation for men = 115 + ((height in inches - 60) x 5.25)) = your IBW
IBW calculation for Women = 110 + ((height in inches - 60) x 5.25))= your IBW
Step #3 - Calculate your Future Basal metabolic rate(FBMR)
Take you IBW value from Step #2 and place into Equation #1 as the "weight in pounds" variable, the result is = your FBMR
Step #4 - Calculate the Difference of lbs from your current weight to get to your ideal bodyweight or (goal weight)
Take your current weight value that you placed into Equation #1 and subtract from IBW value from Equation # 2 which will = The amount of pounds you need to lose in order to achieve your Ideal bodyweight.
Step #5 - Calculate The Total calories that need to be depleted in order to reach your Ideal bodyweight.
Take the Value from Step # 4 and multiply it by 3500 (3500 calories is the amount of calories in 1 pound of fat) = The total amount of calories you need to lose to reach your Ideal bodyweight
Step#6 - Choose the number of days you want to take to reach your Ideal body weight. Here we will calculate the amount of calories that you need to burn per day to reach your ideal bodyweight in the amount of time you've chosen :
by taking the value from Step #5 and dividing it by the number of days you want to take to reach your Ideal body weight.
Step#7 - Here we will calculate your Daily Calorie Allowance(DCA) which is the maximum amount of calories you should ingest in order to reach your goal weight over your goal time period.
Take the value from Step 1 and subtracting it from the value of step # 6.
